Eligibility

Membership of the British Institute of Assessment Professionals is open to anyone involved in assessment practice within education and vocational training. Whether you’re a student beginning your journey, an experienced assessor with years of practical experience, or a senior quality assurance professional leading teams, there’s a membership grade designed for your career stage.

We welcome assessors, internal verifiers, external quality assurers, trainer-assessors, assessment managers, and anyone working in roles that involve evaluating learner competence and performance.

You don’t need a university degree to join BIAP – we recognise that excellence in vocational assessment comes through professional qualifications, practical experience, and continuous development.

Our inclusive membership criteria reflect the diverse pathways into assessment careers, valuing vocational alongside demonstrable professional experience.
